🇮🇳 Punjab Political Transition Report 2022 Assembly vs 2024 Lok Sabha · Road to 2027
Punjab remains one of India's most politically dynamic states, with 117 Assembly constituencies and 13 Lok Sabha seats. The transition from the 2022 Assembly Election (AAP 92 seats) to the 2024 Lok Sabha Election (INC 7 seats, AAP 3, IND 2, SAD 1) represents a significant political realignment, reflecting the complexities of state and national voting patterns.
A critical indicator is the Assembly Segment Lead Analysis: INC led in 37 segments, AAP in 33, BJP in 23, IND in 15, and SAD in 9. While parliamentary voting patterns do not directly predict Assembly outcomes, this signals a highly competitive political environment heading into 2027. This report provides a comprehensive comparison, examining vote shares, regional dynamics, organisational strength, and strategic factors that will shape the next Assembly election.
Punjab is India's agricultural heartland and a politically significant state. With 13 Lok Sabha seats and 117 Assembly seats, the state has historically shaped national politics through its agrarian economy, Sikh community, and distinct political culture. The state has produced several influential political figures and has been at the forefront of major political movements, including the Green Revolution and farmers' protests.
